Ranarr seed
Ranarr seeds can be planted in a herb patch with level 32 Farming in order to produce grimy ranarr weeds. It can be obtained from monsters, as a rare loot from pickpocketing Master Farmers, or as a High Level Gamble reward from the Barbarian Assault minigame, in quantities of 3 and 4.
Planting Ranarr seeds can be profitable, as long as the player takes precautions to minimise disease. The use of ultracompost (or the enhanced Fertile Soil spell) is strongly recommended, to help prevent disease and increase the average yield to where a decent profit can be made.
Note: A nearby gardener will not watch over your growing herb.
To be absolutely certain that the herbs will not get diseased while growing, players should plant them in Troll Stronghold after completing My Arm’s Big Adventure. My Arm will be watching over your patch. The Hosidius House’s allotment patch also becomes immune to disease with at least 50% favour in the Hosidius House.

Magic secateurs help increase profits slightly due to the 10% boost to crop yield. Generally, good harvests yield 6-15 herbs, but the norm is six to ten herbs per patch, so players can expect an average of 8.8 herbs each patch. Players should have five ranarr seeds, some runes, and a means of teleportation. Then, players can start their herb run at any herb patch withdrawing any additional supplies needed from the tool leprechaun. If players have access to the Lunar Spellbook from Lunar Diplomacy, Fertile Soil (83 Magic) can be used in lieu of Ultracompost, but it will make the profit per patch −537 , thus −2,685 total. Also, Spellbook Swap can be used to access the Standard Spellbook and Trollheim Teleport, but it requires 96 Magic and Dream Mentor. After planting, a player can move onto the next patch in any order. An example of a herb run is provided below.
